I discovered Just Rennie's a few months back through some coworkers. We have been traveling to Evansville for work and needless to say there aren't many non-chain places to get something to eat in the area. Just Rennie's is locally owned and although they have catering services, you can also walk in and get sandwiches, coffee, and sweet treats. We have had a lunch catered in for one of our meetings and it was amazing. We had a chicken, artichoke and mushroom casserole with salad and cookies. I must say that I have to pay homage to these cookies. Awesome is my one word description. It looks like a huge scoop of dough. My understanding is that they actually cook them in a muffin tin. You can order them online and have them shipped! Even if you aren't able to make it to Evansville, you at least need to go online and order some of these cookies! I also have tried some of their paninis. They were all tasty, but my favorite is the chicken pesto. I look forward to continuing to try out more of their menu as time goes on.
Other than the great friends I made, there are precious few things I miss about living in Evansville. Rennie's is one of them. I've had their catered food on a couple of occasions and everything....I mean EVERYTHING I've tried from them has been fresh, flavorful, and fantastic! Their cookies are locally famous and to die for. You can even order them online to ship directly to you! They are not exactly cheap, but trust me - you will not care when you try them. Best cookies ever - and this coming from a non-sweet tooth kind of girl. They also now have a lunch counter downtown which is amazing, although kind of pricey. Totally worth it though. I used to stop here to pick up lunch when I felt like treating myself. Potato salad is great, as is everything else. Yum yum yum! Try Rennie's and I promise you won't regret it. Seriously. At least GET THE COOKIES!
I was looking for an Evansville-area business to cater a lunch that my company was organizing locally, and it was my good fortune to stumble across Just Rennie's. I am so glad that I did! In addition to the fact that they were professional, friendly, and easy to work with, the sandwiches and potato salad were absolutely divine. (I grew up eating my mother's potato salad, and I always thought it was fantastic, but Rennie's was out-of-this-world good. Sorry, Mom.) Even though I live in Indianapolis, I will contact Just Rennie's for all future business lunches/dinners that I need to have catered in Evansville and southwestern Indiana. By the way, the chocolate chunk cookies were marvelous -- make sure you try them.
